Corporation has pressed into service five mini-battery vehicles, in the first phase, in its two zones for the door-to-door collection and removal of garbage.The main advantage of these mini-battery vehicles is that they could enter even small lanes and sub-lanes with much ease and collect the garbage.The mini-battery vehicles are easy to handle and each could collect half tonne of garbage during one trip. The battery charged once will last for about 5 – 6 hours at a stretch.The corporation staff themselves will operate the vehicles without going for specialised drivers. The corporation has already sent a few officers and staff to the company which manufactured the mini vehicles for undergoing training in its maintenance.The corporation sources said that trained employees will themselves take care of the maintenance of the mini-battery vehicle, thus avoiding wastage of money and time. For this purpose, the crporation has planned to set p one workshop each in all the four zonal offices.
